As The University of the West
Indies embarks upon its 60th anniversary celebrations, sport and physical
education continues to be at the forefront. Participation by students
and staff in the UWI SPEC International Half Marathon has grown
tremendously, and that includes not only the St. Augustine Campus,
but the other campuses throughout the region.
Our cover story which features the road running winners in The
University of the West Indies Staff category tells much about what is
happening with regard to the emphasis on fitness and wellness at the
University.
The Centred department also highlights the physical education degree
initiative in which 100 secondary school physical education teachers
begin the journey toward acquisition of their Bachelors Degree in
Physical E ducation – Secondary. A dream come true for so many of us
within this discipline.
Yet again we feature our champion athletes both old and new while
describing some of our initiatives including our unique perspective on
the local dog show arena.
Our informative sport business, body talk and referenced departments
continue to provide information and insight into what is happening
in sport and physical education in Trinidad & Tobago and the
Caribbean.
We hope that you keep up your conversations with us at
iva@sped-online.com and do continue to enjoy!.
